Mother's Day - Rounding up the Usual Suspects

Mother's Day
This morning, "J" and I worked on getting the house into shape for guests. I did most of the preparation of a meal from an experimental recipe last night, and we were going to finish it as part of our preparations, but we realized that it wouldn't work to finish them until it was almost time to serve them, so we put that off. J finished the final steps of a two-color jello dish.

Our first guest wasn't family, it was "D", with some dessert foods. I assembled his portion of the meal – a portion of lentils, the baked yellow pepper, the filling of rice with onion, chopped pistachios, and herbs, and the sprinkles of parsley and pistachios – and served it. He said it was very good.

Later, my parents, brother, and sister-in-law arrived, pretty much exactly on schedule. My brother bought pizza. "T" woke up from a nap.

My father, sister-in-law, and I tried my Persian pistachio peppers; we all liked it too. When things wound down they each took a second portion for later. J saved her portion for dinner in the evening. The peppers were rather small portions, so it was good to have the pizza and desserts around too.

In the evening, J and I and T all went to a park to relax and make room for dinner.

The occasion turned out well.
