the final three SIFF press screenings, art gallery - Rounding up the Usual Suspects

This morning, "J" and I got up early enough to make it to the 10 am film, Quest, a good family drama documentary with some surprises that I doubt the documentary film-maker expected.

The noon film, God's Own Country, was another film that made me glad I'm not a farmer. It's about a binge-drinking closeted gay sheep farmer with an ailing father, who hires a Romanian farm-hand to help out with the lambing season. The acting was very good, and the film was pretty good overall.

The 2 pm film, Santa & Andres, features a Cuban gay dissident writer and the woman assigned to make sure he doesn't do anything subversive while foreign visitors are around. They develop a friendship. I appreciated both the acting and the film overall.

In late afternoon, J and I went to an art gallery in Seattle Center that was showing a few paintings by my brother and sister-in-law. There was quite a bit of good stuff there.
