May 2nd, 2019 - Rounding up the Usual Suspects — LiveJournal
Steve's Livejournal

Today, "J" and I attended three more SIFF press screenings:

Jim Allison: Breakthrough is a biographical film about an immunologist (and harmonica player) who won the Nobel Prize in medicine for developing the first effective immune therapy for cancer. It's good, but it was longer than it needed to be.

The Sound of Silence is an aimless drama about a guy who visits people's homes to make their ambient noise more harmonious. I found it lackluster.

Maiden is a surprisingly engaging documentary about the first all-women yacht crew to enter the Whitbread Round the World Race. It's excellent.

Parking was annoying. The place we've usually parked for press screenings, a block south of the theater for $15, was full, so I had to park an additional block south for $17 in a place with much narrower parking spaces.

Today's food was quite a bit better than yesterday's, because J treated us to pasta salad that we ate between films.
